Our Story

La Librairie des Enfants wants to be a destination you, your children, families go to escape from the busy streets of New York to simply be together. It is our hope to be a place you’ll visit often and discover something new every time!

Our bookshop is just a stone’s throw from the bustle of the 92nd Street Y. Join us as we open our doors to friends and neighbors.

« Les Petites Histoires » — a thematic reading program for the whole family

« Petites Histoires » is a thematic reading program based on French albums selected from the best French publishers of children literature (Ecole des Loisirs, De La Martinière, Gallimard Jeunesse, Père Castor…). Children discover the French language through stories, fun activities, songs, role play and craft.

Our sessions will playfully expose participants to the French language through age-appropriate stories and songs. Learn more >

F. Lynda Ouhenia

La Librairie des Enfants is the embodiment of what Lynda treasures most: children and books. She remembers seeking a place to go with her young children when she first came to America and hopes La Librairie des Enfants will be a place where families will visit often and consider their home away from home.

Matthieu Eveillard

Before coming to America, Matthieu was a librarian in France. He brings his passion for books to La Librairie des Enfants where he curates a collection of books especially for young readers and hopes to introduce them to new worlds.

Visiting Performers and Authors

La Librairie des Enfants has the good fortune of being located in New York City, home too many artists and authors. We hope to provide these talented persons with venue to introduce art and culture to young audiences.
